October 31st, 2009: It was wet most of the day. This is a short compilation of footage I grabbed. I hope you guys enjoy it. More good stuff at Southeastdrift.com.
“Southeast Drift spent Halloween at the all new Gresham Motorsports Park in Jefferson, Ga hosting “Drivers Only 3″. The facility is everything people have said it is. Perfect surface that gives stellar grip in wet and dry. With morning showers drying up in the afternoon drivers got a chance to really experience what the surface at GMP is like. The day was divided into 2 run groups of 10 drivers. Seat time was plentiful all day long. Course layout was changed throughout the day including flipping the entry and exit points to give an added challenge. We are very eager to get back to GMP to close our 2009 season with “Land of the Great” Nov. 28th.”
…held at Gresham Motorsports Park in Jefferson, GA. BlackTrash Chris, in his s13.5 kouki front Nissan 240sx, is the one in the vid. You can catch him posting on 240atlanta.com. Enjoy…
It was a rainy day, but still fun, nonetheless. ImportAtlanta.Com, Mainstream Performance, NOPI, NOS Energy Drink, Thinline IT, Zen Motors, Traffic Jam Motorsports, and friends/supporters put on a great event. The food was free, which I heard ran out very quick. There was plenty to do and see. The turnout was great. The video only covers about half the cars that showed up. The Old School Japanese Car meet was held at TunerFest, as well. I can only say so much. You just had to be there. I added some screenshots. Enjoy the vid! It’s at the very bottom.
Equipped with a 20v blacktop 4AGE – Kelvin qualified for top 16 during the single runs and had to face the Batlground S14, then a boosted IS300 to qualify for Top 4. After moving on, Kelvin was able to take 3rd place against the Drift Emporium G35 (supercharged V8). He was later knocked out by George in the red s13, who took 2nd place.
It was the classic David vs Goliath theme. You have to give it up for all the drivers. It’s not easier following an AE86’s slower line when you have to control a car with way more horsepower. Congrats to all the drivers. Congratulations Kelvin!! I’m so proud you, dude!
Take note: There was a no passing rule in effect. Hitting cones and straightening out counted against the drivers. Spinning out, even if it was at the very end, counted heavily against final scores.
For those that have not heard of this monthly meet in Atlanta, at the Varsity, it’s something else. I, do, enjoy covering it from time to time. Every first Thursday of the month is when it occurs. There’s all different types of cars, bikes, and trucks. Pretty much anything goes. It’s becoming so crowded, all the spots fill up by 7 o’clock in the summer time. Well, enough jabberin’, on to the pics:
I got a chance to take some quick snaps of Jess’ hatch at the Riverside Sonic meet this past Thursday. Chris and Jess are a big part of the southeast grassroots drift scene. They put a lot into their cars and it shows. –only 4 shots. The cops were telling everyone in the lot to leave. Enjoy.
Sorry guys, I’m a little behind in posting up my coverage. If you’re on Import Atlanta, then you’ve seen my initial post. Here is the thread. And QD’s thread of pics. There were quite a few cars I missed.
On to the pics from the meet at the Georgia International Horse Park. It was a lot of fun. This was our first time combining our meet with a Fourth of July Festival. We have, also, been invited to return, next year.
Sorry for the late update, guys!
Held March 7th of ‘09 at Mary Alice Park in Cumming, GA. There was a great showing of cars. As always, it’s cool to see a bunch of old school nuts get together and shoot the breeze. Thanks to everyone that showed up and spread the word. The next meet will be held at the Mitty – Road Atlanta, Braselton, GA. See you there!
